Empowering women in Cameroon
through education
Women’s empowerment begins in the classroom – but first they have to get there.
A2Empowerment provides scholarships, mentorship, and support to young women who face barriers to education in Cameroon, such as poverty, gender discrimination, early marriage, and lack of resources. We believe that educating women is the most effective way to reduce poverty and improve health. By empowering women with knowledge and skills, we hope to create a ripple effect of positive change.
Since its founding in 2008, A2Empowerment has awarded over 2,300 educational scholarships to young women in Cameroon.
Recipients are chosen based on need and merit, with a priority placed on selecting girls in the later years of high school when they are at a higher risk of dropping out.
Approximately $80 USD covers tuition, fees, and supplies for a year of school.
“Investing in girl’s education is the very best thing we can do, not just for our daughters and granddaughters, but for their families, their communities, and their countries.”
– MICHELLE OBAMA
